Christians have been advised not to mistake the attack on citizens of Nigeria by terrorist group, Boko Haram, as handwork of the Muslims; as Allah is against such oppression.
This advice was given by Mr. Lukman Yusuf, the Secretary of Muslim Society in Nigeria at the 4th Annual Symposium of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, held at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (N.I.J) hall, today, in Ogba, Lagos.
During
Mr. Lukman’s speech, he said “Christians should not blame the Muslims
for the activities of Boko Haram because Muslims are also affected by
their attack”.
The event themed, 2015 In Introspect: The Roadmap,
was graced by Chairman of the Symposium, Abdulrasheed Isola of STV, Mr.
Suleiman Aladeh and Chamberlain Uzor, both from Channels Television,
Jubril Ibrahim of LTV, and HOD of N.I.J, Mr. Jide Johnson among many
others was filled to capacity.
Mr. Suleiman Aladeh took time to criticize media organizations who misinform Nigerians. Sighting Vanguard Newspaper as an example......
“Vanguard used the picture of a man arrested by French troops in Central Africa Republic (C.A.R), as a front page picture with the caption as Foreign troops capture a big fish in Boko Haram and had to issue an apology later. That is not integrity”
It could be recalled that sometime last week, some media organizations reported that foreign troops has captured a key member of the Boko Haram sect. which then put doubts in the minds of many Nigerians concerning the statement President Barak Obama made that “USA is only providing Personnel to assist the Nigerian military on Intelligence and logics and not sending troops”
Suleiman added that “You don’t have to be the first to break news if you are not sure of the source. You can be the last as long as you are reporting with integrity”.
He also stated that Nigerians should be careful of the words they use to describe our leaders “We have overstep with the way we run our leaders down. You should be careful with what we say about them. The words we use to describe them are unprecedented”
While the HOD of N.I.J, Mr. Jide Johnson ended the events by stating that Boko Haram is not an Islamic agenda, but of an International agenda. So it is wrong to base their doctrine on Islamic faith”
